Can I change Turnitin settings to allow late submissions?

You are able to change the Turnitin activity settings to allow late submissions whether during a submission period  or after a due date has passed.

Students who have not submitted a paper will then be allowed to submit. Students who have already submitted a paper, however will not be able to resubmit. A workaround for this issue is for the Instructor delete the submissions from the students who wish to re-submit a paper.

If you wish to allow students to submit papers after the due date, the assignment preferences must be changed to allow late submissions. To make the change, please do the following:

If changing an existing assignment:

  1. Click on the “more actions” link.
  2. Choose “edit settings” for the assignment you wish to change.
  3. Use the “+ Optional settings” link to use advanced options.
  4. Under the advanced options use the “Allow submissions after the due date?” pull down menu and select “yes” to allow late submissions.
  5. Click on “submit” to finalize changes.

If creating a new assignment:

  1. Click on the green “+ Add Assignment” button.
  2. Fill in necessary assignment information (do not submit yet).
  3. Use the “+ Optional settings” link to use advanced options.
  4. Under the advanced options use the “Allow submissions after the due date?” pull down menu and select “yes” to allow late submissions.
  5. Click on “submit” to finalize changes.

Students who submit a late paper to an assignment will display the submission date in red.

You can check the exact time of submission – see Check submission time
